Tabuleiro Criativo - Estudo de Inglês
Verbos modais são verbos auxiliares que acompanham o verbo principal para expressar ideias como capacidade, permissão ou possibilidade. Eles não precisam de outros auxiliares (como do/does) e não mudam sua forma para "he, she ou it". Os verbos modais incluem can, could, might, may, will, entre outros. Nesta lição falaremos de can e could.
A escolha entre um e outro depende do contexto:
I can speak Arabic. → Eu sei/consigo falar árabe.
Can I take a photo? → Posso tirar uma foto?
I could run fast when I was young. → Eu conseguia correr rápido quando era jovem.
Could you show me the entrance? → Você poderia me mostrar a entrada?
Na forma negativa, podemos utilizar cannot, can't, ou can not (a forma escrita separada é menos comum).
A regra do "To": Nunca use a partícula "to" entre o modal e o verbo principal, mesmo em frases mais complexas.
A regra da Terceira Pessoa: Verbos modais permanecem invariáveis, ignorando a conjugação comum de "s" para He, She ou It.
A regra da Pergunta (Inversão): O modal assume a posição inicial para estruturar o questionamento, eliminando a necessidade de auxiliares extras (similar ao que acontece com o verbo to be).
